CF Canlife
Total Return Fund

Canada Life Investments and Putnam Investments have partnered to offer the CF Canlife Total Return Fund. The CF Canlife Total Return Fund is a long-term investment solution that aims to provide investors with a positive total return through varying market conditions. Capital is at risk and there is no guarantee of a positive return over any twelve-month period.

The fund holds a globally diversified portfolio of assets and seeks to generate a return of cash + 5% pa over a full market cycle. The Fund (the 'Feeder Fund') invests in the Putnam Total Return  (the 'Master Fund') through a master-feeder structure

REASONS TO RECOMMEND

  • SEEKS A BETTER RISK BALANCE
A long-term investment solution that avoids the risk concentrations seen in traditional diversified portfolios by carefully allocating assets based on the risks they represent. The portfolio focuses on risk-based allocation, rather than asset allocation. This should help to produce superior risk-adjusted returns.
  • DYNAMIC INVESTMENT PROCESS
By using a dynamic, forward-looking approach, the management team constantly monitors the portfolio to make sure that it is achieving its target and responds quickly to changing market and economic conditions. The strategy is designed to allow the team to take advantage of opportunities wherever and whenever they arise.
  • DIVERSIFIED FOR STABLE RETURNS
Unconstrained by geography or asset type, the fund can invest wherever opportunities lie in order to deliver results. We believe in active management and try to be opportunistic about our implementation. The management team seeks the most efficient building blocks to provide the best risk-adjusted returns, blending a wide range of global assets that fall into four main risk categories: equity risk, interest rate risk, credit risk and inflation risk.
  • PIONEERS IN MULTI-ASSET INVESTING
Managed by Putnam Investments’ Global Asset Allocation team, which launched its total return portfolio in 2006. Putnam is a pioneer in multi-asset investing and today the Global Asset Allocation team is responsible for managing more than £5bn in these strategies.
  • RISK PROFILE RATING
The fund has been reviewed by Distribution Technology and currently has a risk profile 6.
