With its go-anywhere approach to the global fixed income market, the fund aims to generate an attractive income from investment grade bonds while keeping risk under control.
In addition to income, the fund represents a long-term investment solution that also offers the prospect of sustainable growth, making it an essential building block in a diversified investment portfolio
As a truly global bond fund, investors in the CF Canlife Global Bond Fund benefit from a broad diversification across government and corporate bonds, but also currencies, countries, maturities and sectors.
DRAWING ON EXPERIENCE
The 17-strong fixed income team at Canada Life Investments is responsible for managing more than £25bn of fixed income assets across conventional fixed interest, index-linked gilts, corporate credit and overseas bonds.
Past performance is not a guide to future performance. The value of investments may fall as well as rise and investors may not get back the amount invested. Income from investments may fluctuate. Currency fluctuations can also affect performance. Performance figures are on a bid to bid with net income reinvested basis. Valuations are based on the previous day's prices.
The CF Canlife Global Bond Fund aims to provide income with the potential for some long-term capital growth principally through investment in global fixed income securities. It has the freedom to invest across the full range of investment-grade fixed income assets, using a generally conservative approach, and principally invests in investment grade securities that include government and corporate bonds (financials and non-financials).
David Arnaud’s investment approach is driven by the combination of macroeconomic factors such as views on global growth, inflation and interest rate movements, and thorough credit analysis that enables him to identify the strengths and weaknesses of investable assets. This determines the appropriate portfolio’s mix of interest rate, duration and credit exposures while keeping currency risk to a minimum.
In managing the portfolio, David draws on Canada Life Investments’ extensive in-house credit research capabilities, which helps him to form fundamental, bottom-up views on individual fixed income securities, as well as duration positioning and top-down macroeconomic trends.
Liquidity is a key element of successful bond investment, allowing us to implement changes in our views and to ensure maximum adaptability in the context of an ever-changing world.
