CANADA LIFE INVESTMENTS WINS TWICE AT THE MSCI UK PROPERTY INVESTMENT AWARDS

We are delighted to announce that Canada Life Investments attained double recognition at the recent MSCI UK Property Investment Awards, run in association with the Investment Property Forum (IPF).  As a company, we received a Data Quality Award while the Canada Life UK Property Life Fund won the Three Year Peer Group Performance Award in the Small Balanced Funds (below £100m) category.

Award winners are determined by MSCI referencing portfolio performance and data quality for the 12 months to 31 December 2016.  They are independent and objectively calculated to highlight investment performance by pension and life funds, pooled funds and property investment companies and data-management efficiency, governance and transparency.

In achieving the Data Quality Award, we were recognised for the production of clear and accurate data on each eligible fund across our range of vehicles, delivered in a timely manner.  This level of service is critical for the property indices in ensuring the provision of an independent and respected view of property returns against benchmarks.

The Canada Life UK Property Life Fund was named the best performing Small Balanced Fund (below £100m) having delivered an annualised three-year total return of 15.2% (property portfolio only, as calculated by MSCI), the highest in its peer group.  The fund was assessed by MSCI’s Real Estate Portfolio Analysis Service, which provides investors with an independent audit of returns against a relevant market or sector benchmark.

David Marchant, CIO of Canada Life Limited and Managing Director of Canada Life Asset Management Limited said:

“The MSCI UK Property Investment Awards are among the most prestigious accolades in the sector, recognised for their robust process and independence.  Winning both best Small Balanced Fund over three years as well as receiving the Data Quality Award is a clear reflection of our property team’s ability to produce not only outstanding performance but also clear and accurate data across their funds.  The fact that we are existing holders of the Data Quality Award and have won performance awards in each of the last three years is clear demonstration of the consistency of both returns and quality of service.”

CANADA LIFE INVESTMENTS NAMED BEST UK ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY* AT 2017 EUROPEAN FUNDS TROPHY AWARDS

We are proud to announce that Canada Life Investments has been named Best UK Asset Management Company (41-70 rated funds category) at the 2017 European Funds Trophy Awards for the second year running.

“We are very pleased to have won this prestigious award when there are so many excellent managers in the investment world producing good returns to investors.

Canada Life Investments property team captures fourth award

We are thrilled to announce that our property fund management team has achieved recognition for the fourth year in a row at the MSCI/IPF Property Investment Awards 2016.

This year the property team at Canada Life Investments sealed the award in the small fund category* for its property unit trust (currently not open to new investments).

Now in its 16th year, the MSCI/IPF Property Investment Awards are widely considered to be the authoritative guide to the real estate investment industry’s best performing fund managers. Awards are presented to the funds with the best performance over three years in 11 categories based on fund type and size, and two further categories based on risk-adjusted returns over 10 years.

Canada Life Investments has a long track record in property fund management, investing across all principal commercial property assets, seeking steady and rising income coupled with capital growth through active management. The property team has collected an award each year since 2013, with the Canlife UK Property Life Fund winning in the Balanced Pooled Funds** category that year.

The MSCI/IPF Property Awards are highly regarded within the property industry given they are based on performance numbers in absolute terms against the MSCI benchmark peer group.

Past performance is not a guide to future performance. The value of investments may fall as well as rise and investors may not get back the amount invested. Income from investments may fluctuate.

Currency fluctuations can also affect performance. Property held in Canada Life property funds may not be readily saleable. This means that investors in property funds may not always be able to realise their investments when they choose.
In such cases Canada Life may postpone the encashment of the units in the fund by up to six months.

The value of property is generally a matter of a valuer’s opinion rather than fact. Costs of buying and selling real property are generally much higher than for other types of assets. Property investments may be subject to significantly wider price spreads than bonds and equities which could affect the valuation of the fund by up to 8.80%.
